Yep, that's even Pretty in Pink.
There's one that should be worth signifigantly more than the sum of its' parts.

<<And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again>>
*The times, they are a-changing*
It just proves that we can't keep the best and let the times change only the change-worthy.
Well to me also it seems that the big change hasn't been all that fullfilling yet...

Today this equipment would fall into the outboard
category. The main mixer board is the main sound tool.

So MANY things are like that - and the younger people of today (at least most of them) don't even know what they've missed out on!
I had a fellow call the other day inviting me to attend a sound system operators' seminar. Asking me to attend a sound system operators' seminar is like inviting Don and Carolyn Davis to a session on sound system equalization.
At any rate, when I got to talking with him about line arrays, trapezoidal one-box-does-everything, and how that no one ENGINEERS sound systems anymore - they just hang (usually ugly) boxes and quoted the old vaudevillian saying "If you can't be good, BE LOUD!", he hung up on me!
Only then did it dawn on me that that's exactly what his music-store sound installers do - hang boxes. They supply the sound for ORU's Mabee Center in Tulsa, which has a HUGE Altec system in it. When I asked him why they don't use it, he said, "Well they were raising it up one day and dropped it, and they can't get parts for it." When I told him about Bill and GPA, he didn't know what I was talking about.
The conversation went downhill from there, ending in him hanging up.
Oh well...
